Rechargeable Batteries and Cell Phones

The Call2Recycle® program for rechargeable battery and cell phone recycling is available to residents, retailers, businesses, communities, municipalities and public agencies in the U.S. and Canada. The program was created in 1994 and is funded by battery and product manufacturers to raise awareness about the importance of battery recycling and to promote product stewardship initiatives.

The program collects rechargeable batteries and cell phones for recycling through collection locations in the U.S. and Canada. Collection locations consist of retailers, businesses, communities, municipalities and public agencies. They accept batteries and cell phones from their staff or the public for recycling.

Consumers with a few batteries and/or cell phones to recycle can drop-off at any the Call2Recycle collection locations (look at right-hand box on their web page). There is no cost to recycle.

Businesses, communities, municipalities and public agencies can sign up to become a Call2Recycle collection location to collect batteries and cell phones. They can choose to only collect from their staff within their organizations or collect from the public. There is no cost to participate or to recycle through the Call2Recycle program. The shipping is free if you: drop off the package at a UPS drop-box or store, or do not require UPS to make a special collection stop for your box (they were coming anyway to drop something off or you catch the driver making a delivery elsewhere).
